The Chartis Center for Rural Health recently released its list of the Top 100 Rural Health and Community Hospitals in the United States, and one local provider received the honor. Baxter Health is on the list for 2023 as one of the hospitals demonstrating excellence in providing quality and affordable care to rural communities.

According to a hospital spokesperson, Baxter Health is part of a group of only 13% of rural hospitals awarded the distinction nationwide. Over the years, the hospital has worked to create programs designed specifically for the rural community, including telemedicine services to allow patients access to specialty care without having to travel long distances. The hospital also offers a variety of educational classes focused on health promotion topics, including nutrition and wellness classes free-of-charge to local residents.

Baxter Health President and CEO Ron Peterson says, “We are so honored to receive this recognition from the Chartis Center for Rural Health. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, providers, and all those involved in helping us provide compassionate care beyond measure.”

Baxter Health is one of four hospitals from Arkansas on the list. They are joined by White River Health in Batesville, Baptist Health Medical Center in Stuttgart and John Ed Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville.
