An Izard County man is facing a felony charge after brandishing a firearm while passing another vehicle.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the Izard County Sheriff’s Office was informed a student from ICC High School was a victim in an incident involving a firearm.
During the investigation, the victim stated he was driving on Arkansas Highway 69 between Mt. Pleasant and Melbourne when he witnessed a white truck approach his vehicle from the rear and proceeded to pass him in the left passing lane. The victim told deputies he looked over to left and observed the driver pointing a handgun at him.
The victim told deputies he slammed on his brakes and allowed the drive to continue without incident. While speaking with classmates, they were able to identify the suspect as 22-year-old Kaleb Reynolds.
The victim’s mother told deputies she suspected her son had contact with Reynolds previously through the victim’s ex-girlfriend, who is allegedly in a current relationship with Reynolds.
Deputies visited Reynolds at his residence where he stated he had made a mistake and he was upset at the time due to rumors he believed involving the victim and Reynolds’ girlfriend. Reynolds stated the firearm was not loaded and he never pointed the weapon at the victim, only displaying it for him to see. The firearm was surrendered to deputies and placed in evidence lockup in the Izard County Sheriff’s Office.
Reynolds is charged with a felony count of aggravated assault and is currently being held in the Izard County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.
