A Mountain Home woman has been charged with forgery, theft of property and fraudulent use of a credit or debit card after using a business’ debit card to make a payment on a pawn shop account.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen debit card being used at a local pawn shop without authorization. The report stated the victim’s card was used at Porter’s Pawn in the amount of $123.60. The victim stated the business debit card is usually left in the business vehicle for expenses needed to complete jobs they are on. They advised authorities the debit card is in their possession, but believe a new employee may have photographed or written the information down.

During the investigation, deputies were able to confirm a female, later identified as 28-year-old Kayla Lansdell, used the debit card to make a payment on her account. The store manager stated they spoke with Lansdell and took the information to pay on her account. Lansdell stated she was paying on the account for her boyfriend.

When authorities contacted Lansdell, she admitted to making a phone call to the pawn shop and used the information belonging to the victim to make a payment. She stated the debit card information was written down on a piece of paper in her wallet next to her card. Lansdell told authorities she intended the transaction to be a surprise for her boyfriend and stated she was willing to pay the amount back she used on the debit card if it would resolve the issue.

Lansdell and her boyfriend both stated they did not know how the victim’s debit card information was ended up in their possession and stated the piece of paper the information was written on was discarded.

Lansdell is currently being held in the Baxter County Detention Center on $3500 bond.
