
Baseball and softball make up much of the local Friday schedule.
The Mountain Home High School baseball team returns to McClain Park as they welcome in Fair Grove from Missouri. The varsity game begins at 4:30 at Pitts Field followed by the junior varsity contest.
After Thursday’s rainout, the 2A-1 District Baseball Tournament will begin at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. On Jack Williams Field, Yellville-Summit and Marshall get underway at 4, and the winner faces top-seeded Greenland in the semifinals at 6:30. On Pippin Field, Ozark Mountain takes on Life Way Christian at 4, and Cotter gets the victor at 6:30.
Viola will be the site for the semifinals of the 1A-2 District Baseball Tournament. Norfork plays Greers Ferry West Side at 3:30, and the host and top-seeded Longhorns will be paired with Calico Rock at 5:30.
Flippin’s baseball team will compete in the semifinals of the 3A-1 District Tournament at Lincoln. The Bobcats face top-seeded Elkins at 5.
The Melbourne baseball team will make up its semifinal game in the 3A-2 District Tournament at Tuckerman. The top-seeded Bearkatz take on the host Bulldogs at 4.
The 1A-1 East District Baseball Tournament will also be held at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. Lead Hill and Omaha get started at 1 on Pippin Field, and top-seeded Jasper plays Alpena at 3:30 on John Phillips Field. The winners will square off for the championship at 6 on John Phillips Field.
In other high school baseball, Bakersfield hosts Willow Springs, Gainesville entertains Fordland, and Dora is home against Winona.
The Mountain Home High School softball team will be back on the road for an outing with Vilonia. The varsity game starts at 5, and the J.V. contest will follow.
The 2A-1 District Softball Tournament will play makeup games on Cornerstone Field at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. Yellville-Summit and Ozark Mountain begin 4, and top-seeded Cotter will be matched up with the winner in the semifinals at 8. The other semifinal will feature Marshall and Greenland at 6.
The semifinals of the 1A-2 District Softball tournament will be held at Viola. Top-seeded Calico Rock faces Shirley at 3:30, and the host Lady Longhorns take on Concord at 5.
Two area softball teams will face off in the semifinals of the 3A-2 District Tournament at Tuckerman. Salem and Melbourne are scheduled for the first pitch at 6.
Izard County will host the semifinals of the 2A-2 District Softball Tournament at Brockwell. The Lady Cougars play Quitman at 3.
Mammoth Spring’s softball team will be in Marked Tree for the 1A-3 District Tournament. The top-seeded Lady Bears will take the field at noon against the winner of the morning session between the host Lady Indians and Maynard.
