A Lakeview man who has been in trouble in the past stemming from involvement in violent domestic altercations was back in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.
Thirty-nine-year-old Christopher Wilson Packley pled guilty to a 2nd degree domestic battery charge and was put on probation for five years.
Packley was arrested after a woman identified as his wife gave a report to police July 18 last year.
She said the couple had been arguing when Packley grabbed her, threw her to the ground, mounted her and put his hands around her neck.
She said she had almost blacked out before her brother-in-law intervened and pulled Packley off her.
As he was being sentenced, Packley was asked by Circuit Judge John Putman if he had done the things alleged in the probable cause affidavit and he said he had, “after she hit me.”
PREVIOUS CASE
Packley has been in trouble before for engaging in altercations with household members.
In mid-February 2017, he was arrested for his involvement in a domestic argument in which he is alleged to have fired shots at a woman identified as his girlfriend.
When deputies contacted Packley, he admitted firing three shots from a rifle, but said he shot into the air in hopes his girlfriend would stop and return to the house.
He told investigators the fight had been triggered when he tried to stop his girlfriend from taking a large quantity of pills as she had tried to do the night before.
