MHHS baseball, softball, boys’ soccer among 19 area teams advancing to state tournaments

A total of 19 teams will be competing in this week’s state tournaments for baseball, softball and soccer when they get underway Thursday.

The Mountain Home High School baseball team will be in Marion for one of the opening games of the Class 5A State Tournament. The Bombers’ opening opponent will be Valley View. Mountain Home enters the tournament as the fourth-seeded team from the 5A-West. The Blazers are the champions of the 5A-East. The first pitch is scheduled for Thursday morning at 10.

Cotter will take part Thursday in the Class 2A State Baseball Tournament hosted by Greenland. The Warriors meet Cedar Ridge at 5:30.

Three area baseball teams will be in the Class 1A State Tournament hosted by Taylor on Thursday. On the Taylor High School campus, Lead Hill faces the host school at 10, and Norfork takes on Nemo Vista at 12:30. Viola plays Wonderview at 3 on the campus of Bradley High School.

Melbourne goes to Lincoln Thursday for its opener in the Class 3A State Baseball Tournament. The Bearkatz will be paired with Central Arkansas Christian at 5:30.

Mountain Home is one of two area high school softball teams to start their run in the Class 5A State Tournament hosted by Marion on Thursday. The Lady Bombers’ first opponent will be Greene County Tech. Mountain Home is the No. 4 seed from the 5A-West. The Lady Eagles are the champions of the 5A-East. The first pitch at is scheduled for 10. Harrison will have one of the last games of the opening round as they meet Marion at 5:30.

Cotter will compete in the Class 2A State Tournament hosted by Greenland on Thursday. The Lady Warriors face Mount Vernon-Enola at 5:30.

Three area softball teams will be in the Class 1A State Tournament hosted by Taylor. On the Bradley High School campus, Calico Rock gets underway with Bradford at 10, and Jasper takes on Emerson at 5:30. Viola plays Nemo Vista at 3 on the Taylor High School campus.

Three area schools will send their softball teams to Lincoln Thursday for the opening day of the Class 3A State Tournament. Valley Springs and Dumas start at 10, Melbourne will be matched up with Lamar at 12:30, and Salem meets Atkins at 5:30.

Mountain Home’s boys will be one of three area high school soccer teams in the Class 5A State Tournament hosted by Valley View. The Bombers will start Thursday against Searcy on the campus of Paragould High School. Mountain Home is the fourth-seeded team from the 5A-West. The Lions are the champions of the 5A-East. Action kicks off at 4.

The Bombers will be joined in the state tournament by both of Harrison’s teams. The Lady Goblins will be at Paragould to face the Lady Rams at 10, and the Harrison boys will go to Valley View High School in Jonesboro to take on the host Blazers at 4.

Mountain View’s boys will be at the Anstaff Soccer Complex in Harrison for their first game in the Class 3A State Tournament hosted by Bergman. The Yellowjackets play Danville Thursday at 11.
