Baseball and softball make up the local Friday schedule as state tournaments begin for some teams and continue for others.
After Thursday’s action was delayed due to weather, three area baseball teams will get underway in the Class 1A State Tournament hosted by Taylor. At Taylor High School, Norfork gets underway against Nemo Vista at 10, and Lead Hill plays the host school at 5:30. Viola will be paired with Wonderview at 3 on the campus of Bradley High School.
Melbourne’s baseball team will make up its first round game in the Class 3A State Tournament hosted by Lincoln. The Bearkatz meet Central Arkansas Christian at 10 on the campus of Rogers High School.
Three area softball teams will play makeup games in the Class 1A State Tournament hosted by Taylor. At Bradley High School, Calico Rock faces Bradford at 10, and Jasper takes on Emerson at 5:30. Viola plays Nemo Vista at 3 at Taylor High School.
The Valley Springs softball team continues action in the Class 3A State Tournament at Lincoln. The Lady Tigers will be matched up with Lamar in the quarterfinals at 10.
Harrison’s softball team resumes play in the Class 5A State Tournament at Marion. The Lady Goblins’ quarterfinal opponent will be Benton at 12:30.
