Two Izard County men sentenced for baseball bat attack

Two Izard County men previously charged with striking a man with a baseball bat have been sentenced.

According to court documents, 16th Judicial Circuit Judge Tim weaver sentenced 22-year-old Darrian Charles O’neil Woodward to 12 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections, and 19-year-old Landon Reese Thomas to 20 years.

Both Woodward and Thomas pled guilty to felony charges of aggravated robbery and 1st degree battery.

The probable cause affidavit in the case states the two men, along with an underage female, broke into the victims residence while he was asleep and struck him on the back of the head with a baseball bat.

At the time of the attack, Woodward was 18 and Thomas was 16, however prosecutors charged him as an adult due to the seriousness of the crime.

Along with the prison time, Judge Weaver has ordered Woodward and Thomas to pay all fines and court costs.
