A Fulton County man has been arrested after allegedly firing shots at his dad who was hiding from him in some bushes. The Sunday afternoon incident has led to multiple charges against 18-year-old Brent Thomasdale Vernon of rural Salem.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, the victim told deputies his son had returned home drunk and went “crazy”. Vernon is accused of kicking in the front door before making several threats to kill his dad. Vernon went to his bedroom and the victim grabbed a shotgun and ran outside.

Vernon then went outside and ran behind a neighbor’s house. A witness told deputies Vernon fired a shot near her house and said he would kill her and her children who were also present.

It’s alleged Vernon then fired two shots in the direction of his father who was hiding in some bushes. The victim was still in the bushes when law enforcement arrived.

Vernon is charged with two felony counts of terroristic threatening and one felony count of aggravated assault on a family or household member, two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and one misdemeanor count of possession of intoxicating liquor by a minor. His bond is set at $25,000.
