
The Gainesville High School baseball team is one win away from successfully defending its district title from a year ago. Top-seeded Gainesville played Wednesday in the semifinals of the Class 2, District 10 Tournament at Seymour and defeated another group of Bulldogs from Cabool 9-3. Gainesville improves to 20-4 on the year.
Dora’s quest for a district title and a state tournament berth fell one win short. The Falcons competed in the championship game of the Class 1, District 4 Tournament at Norwood and lost to Greenwood 6-0. Dora’s season ends with a record of 7-13.
Forsyth captured the title of the Class 3, District 10 Tournament at Strafford. The Panthers were able to beat top-seeded Clever 9-4. Forsyth has a mark of 20-7, and they’ll begin action in the Class 3 State Tournament on Tuesday.
For the second consecutive day, Branson went to extra innings as they continued to host the Class 5, District 6 Tournament. The Pirates were not as fortunate as they were on Tuesday as they were edged out by top-seeded Willard 3-2 in nine innings. Branson’s season ends at 14-19.
