A Fulton County woman is facing multiple charges after she attempted to steal a patrol vehicle while being arrested on a public intoxication charge.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of an intoxicated female around the Saddler Falls area, allegedly trying to fight people.

Upon arrival, deputies began speaking to the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Destiny Ward, who appeared to be heavily intoxicated. While authorities were trying to get a friend to pick Ward up, she became more irate with resort management and began yelling and cursing at the staff and deputy. Ward was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

While in the back of the patrol car, Ward slipped her hands out of the restraints behind her back and slid the sliding glass partition, where she crawled through and kicked the deputies patrol rifle from its mount. The rifle landed on the center console and activated the patrol vehicle’s siren.

After unlocking the door, the deputy began giving Ward commands to exit the vehicle while she was reaching for the gear shift, attempting to steal and flee in the patrol vehicle. Ward was removed from the driver’s seat and began physically pulling and resisting the deputy.

Ward is facing felony charges of 3rd degree escape from custody law enforcement, theft of vehicle, and misdemeanor charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. She was booked into the Fulton County Detention Center on $20,000 bond.
