A Lead Hill woman is facing assault charges after allegedly swinging a machete at her boyfriend’s head and stabbing it into a door.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office dispatched to a report of a verbal domestic disturbance along Holt Avenue in Lead Hill. The caller stated a male held a knife up to her and was threatening her. While en route deputies received multiple updates from dispatch in regards to the situation, with the last one stating the woman said if deputies didn’t arrive soon she would show the male and his mother “how crazy she could be.”
Upon arrival, deputies observed a female lying in the street and identified her as 38-year-old Patricia Briney. She told authorities her and the victim, identified as her boyfriend, had been arguing and “he went and told his momma.” When deputies asked Briney about the knife, she stated she didn’t know where it was and it could possibly be inside the house.
Authorities made contact with the victim and his mother who stated Briney allegedly took a machete and swung it at the victim’s head while they were arguing, and reported Briney took the knife and stabbed it into the door.
Deputies returned to ask Briney her side of the situation and she stated the victim would not let her leave, he allegedly held a knife up to her and stated if she wanted to leave she would have to go through him. Briney reported a machete was sitting on the floor so she picked it up and held it down at her side, telling the victim to let her leave. Briney said the victim moved and she walked out of the bedroom. The victim then told Briney, “that machete is not yours,” so she then turned around, stuck the machete through the door and walked out.
Briney is facing charges of aggravated assault on a family household member.
She is being held in the Boone County Detention Center on $7,500 bond.
