The Howell County Sheriff’s Office is advising the public of a recent scam involving the use of a retired employee’s name.
According to the report, an unknown subject is using a retired employee’s name from the Sheriff’s Office and is advising potential victims they have missed two letters of notification for sex offender registration. The unknown subject attempted to gain $1,500 in order to clear a warrant being issued.
If any citizen encounter this scam, they are urged to immediately call the Sheriff’s Office at 417-256-2544. The Howell County Sheriff’s Office reminds citizens they do not accept money over the phone.
