A possible cyberattack is being investigated after software and information were reportedly breached at the University of Missouri. According to St. Louis television station KMOV, spokesperson Christian Basi has confirmed the university is looking into the possibility of a breach.

A Russian hacking group known as “CL0P” has allegedly claimed they have successfully attacked the university system. Basi says the university is investigating the entire university system for possible attacks. In addition to the campus in Columbia, the system includes the University of Missouri-St. Louis, the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla.

Earlier this month, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency issued an advisory after CL0P exploited a weakness in the Progress Software’s managed file transfer solution known as MOVEit Transfer.
