A motorcycle pursuit Tuesday morning has ended with the death of a Baxter County man.

According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, Tuesday morning at approximately 9:58, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office they received a trespassing complaint taking place in Baxter County on Arkansas Highway 201 North, just North of Baxter CR 35. A couple of minutes later, the Sheriff’s Office received a second call reporting a loud disturbance taking place at the same residence, with people shouting and arguing.

Upon arrival, a male subject, identified as 42-year-old Jason Dean Lansdown, was observed fleeing the scene on a motorcycle and deputies began the pursuit. Deputies followed the Lansdown down CR 35 when his motorcycle and deputy patrol car collided after Lansdown turned around and came riding back toward the deputy.

Emergency Medical Services were immediately dispatched to the scene and CPR was performed on a non-responsive Lansdown. The efforts to save Lansdown were not successful and he was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Baxter County Coroner’s Office.

The Arkansas State Police is investigating the incident. The deputy involved was Deputy Michael Gorbet.
