At the beginning of June, Baxter County’s Animal Control was taken over by the sheriff’s office. Lieutenant Lee Sanders oversees the division, and Sara Hulen and Casey Stone as the office’s animal control wardens.

Hulen and Stone were selected to care for the animals the sheriff’s office is responsible for, and they also retrieve animals that have been caught. Lieutenant Sanders says the two wardens will not go out and catch the stray animals themselves.

The animals being cared for by Animal Control are normally available up for adoption. For anyone looking to adopt or see if a missing pet is at the shelter, pictures are available online at baxtercountysheriff.com/animal-control. Sanders says they have been busy with adoptions in the short time the sheriff’s office has had control of the division.
