Baxter County Sheriff shares holiday weekend activity report

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office has released an activity report for the holiday weekend.

According to Sheriff John Montgomery, for the Independence Day holiday weekend period running from Friday June 30 through Tuesday July 4, the sheriff’s office recorded numerous activities including:

154 complaint calls or calls for service;
87 vehicle traffic stops;
16 citations for traffic violations, including two citations or arrests for driving while intoxicated;
9 citations for criminal misdemeanors; and
70 written warnings for traffic violations.

The Baxter County Detention Center saw 35 bookings from all law enforcement agencies. The jail bookings included four for domestic violence, three for drug possession and three for driving or boating while intoxicated.

Two boating accidents were reported on Lake Norfork, one with an injury was referred to the Arkansas Game and Fish Wildlife Officers for investigation.

Deputies also assisted with the fireworks show on Lake Norfork July 3, including water patrol boats and helicopters in use to monitor boat and vehicle traffic.

Patrol duty was also provided under contract for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers parks and campgrounds on Lake Norfork and at the Lakeview Park on Bull Shoals Lake.
