Hurricanes get 2nd win of 2023 at home pool

The Mountain Home Hurricanes swim team picked up its second win of the season as they were at the home pool. The Hurricanes beat Harrison, Jonesboro, Paragould and Pocahontas.

Liam McKee (8), Parker Kohler (9), Farrah Coleman (10) and Peeka Traver (15) won all their events. Carolina Hilvert won the 25-yard backstroke for 8-and-under under girls. Elijah Jones won the backstroke among 11-and-12-year-olds, and Ajay Reiss won senior backstroke. Annabelle Horn (12) won 200-yard individual medley, and Christian Belicek won the same event in the 13-and-14 boys’ division. Caleb Due won the senior event and went on to win the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. Sophia McKee won the 100-yard freestyle among 11-and-12-year-olds. JW Bailey won the 50-yard breaststroke in the 11-and-12 boys’ division, and Sabrina Whiteside won 50-yard butterfly in the same age group.

In addition, Benny Vetter (15) got two Junior Olympic cuts. Callie Kohler (12) swam exhibition, working on improving times and giving teammates a shot at first place.
