A one-vehicle accident early Tuesday morning in Howell County resulted in injuries to its four occupants, including an infant, all from Drury. The male child, less than a year old, and a 15-year-old female were transported by air ambulance to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield with serious injuries. Eighteen-year-old Addison Skains and another 15-year-old female were sent by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains with moderate injuries.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Skains was the driver of a vehicle traveling on Missouri Route CC, and the three minors were her passengers. They were nearly six miles east of Dora when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree. Skains was reportedly not wearing a seat belt, and the infant was not in an appropriate child safety seat.
Skains’ vehicle was totaled in the 12:50 a.m. accident.
