
Monday evening’s storms have caused some damage in the Twin Lakes Area and knocked out power to several residents.
Lightning reportedly caused a fire to First Community Bank in Mountain Home. According to Mountain Home Fire Marshal Shawn Lofton, the lightning strike to the bank was witnessed by someone at a neighboring business. At last update, the damage was believed to be limited to the roof.
Lofton spoke with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News about the incident.
The storms also caused additional damage to trees and roads in Marion County. Judge Jason Stumph says road crews and emergency services responded with trees reportedly across some roadways.
As of 4:15 Tuesday morning, Entergy Arkansas had power outages to 69 customers in Marion County and 18 in Stone County. White River Valley Electric Cooperative had power outages to 1,050 customers in Ozark County, 279 in Taney County and 743 in Douglas County.
For rainfall, the Twin Lakes Area is well above average for the month of July. A total of .84 of an inch fell Monday at KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot, the official reporting station for the National Weather Service in Mountain Home. With nearly two weeks left of July, this month’s total rainfall is 5.7 inches, 1.55 inches above July’s average of 4.15 inches.
