Local nurse named 2023 School Nurse of the Year

A local nurse has recently been named as the 2023 School Nurse (RN) of the year in Arkansas. Sue Wepprecht, RN who has worked as a school nurse for Mountain Home Public Schools (MHPS) for 11 years of a 42 year career tells KTLO News she was quite surprised to hear she was the recipient of this year’s honor.

According to Amy Fortner, BSN RN President of Arkansas School Nurses Association (ASNA) Nurse Wepprecht has “exhibited excellence in school nursing as recognized by her peers for dedication and service to her students and staff. She is an advocate for her students, supports parents, school staff and has involved the community in her school.”
Wepprecht states that being a part of the student’s lives and their support system is what she finds most rewarding.

Wepprecht was recently honored at the ANSA conference in Conway and will once again be honored at the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) conference in Chicago IL. The ANSA will pay her conference fee to attend the NASN conference in June 2024.
