Four of Mountain Home High School’s athletic programs are being called “Academic State Champions” by the Arkansas Activities Association. The Bombers were awarded the title Thursday in boys’ basketball, baseball, softball and girls’ wrestling from the 2022-2023 athletic year.
The AAA awards the Academic State Championships in every sport it sanctions. The award is based on each team member’s cumulative grade point average for the most recent official grading period. According to the AAA, a team has to have a minimum of four members to be eligible for the award, and boys’ and girls’ teams cannot be combined.
One other area team received the honor. Harrison won the Academic State Championship in boys’ tennis.
Mountain Home had the second most academic state titles on this year’s list. Valley View won the award in seven sports.
