A local author is working to keep our local history alive.
Lifelong Marion County resident Nathan Rogers has completed a new book recently released on Amazon highlighting local history with national significance. The book “The Cedar Boys: The Rise and Fall of the CSA” tells the story of a secluded commune in Oakland during the early 1980s.
The Covenant, The Sword, and the Arm of the Lord (CSA) emerged as America’s first modern domestic terroristic threats. This once obscure group of cedar loggers later became linked with many crimes including the murder of police officers, arson and bombings, theft and fraud. It has been speculated they were the architects of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, OK, in 1995.
Rogers, who recently appeared on KTLO’s Talk of the Town, says with the fast pace of modern life, it can be easy for past events to slip from our memories.

Although the CSA is remembered for committing crimes, Rogers says he was impacted by the human side to these stories.

Rogers also has a book called “The Everett, Tutt and King War of Marion County” which tells the story of a family feud that occurred in Yellville in the mid 1800s which led to the state placing the town under 6 weeks of martial law.
A podcast is in the works next for Rogers as he continues to find new avenues to share local history and keep it alive for future generations.
