Baxter Co. recently convicted as sex offender registers with Sheriff’s Office

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Department is notifying the public a new sex offender has registered with the office after recently being convicted in court of a sex offense.

Sheriff John Montgomery states 29-year-old Daniel Quilhot reports his residence is at 711 Harding Blvd. in Cotter.

Quilhot has not yet been assigned by a risk level by the sex offender community notification assessment. Sheriff Montgomery states Quilhot was arrested in Marion County on May 21, 2022 for the offenses of sexual indecency with a minor and sexual assault in the fourth degree. He accepted a negotiated plea offer and plead guilty July 19. Quilhot was sentenced to supervised probation and ordered to pay a fine of $2,000 in addition to court costs and other fees.

Quilhot is not wanted by law enforcement at this time. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather it is the sheriff’s belief an informed public is a safer public. This information cannot be used to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders. Citizen abuse will not be tolerated. Such abuse could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to provide community notification.
