The Baxter County Conservation District is currently running the Bull Shoals – White River 319 Water Quality Program. The program’s objective is to maintain or restore water quality in the designated areas of the Bull Shoals Lake – White River Watershed.
The project will help landowners reduce silt run off from their property by helping to implement Best Management Practices (BMP) for livestock. Conservation planning and cost sharing of applied BMP’s will result in the establishment of usable vegetative cover on pastureland. Practices include cross fencing, livestock water lines and watering facilities, heavy use areas for feed and water stations and spraying for unwanted pasture weeds and planting.
If residents think they fall within the watershed program they should stop by the Conservation District office located at 406 W. Wade Avenue, Suite 2 in Mountain Home or call 870-425-3527, Ext. 3.
