An agreement has been reached to keep the doors open for an area hospital. The agreement was signed Friday morning for Baxter Health to provide professionals to manage and run the Fulton County Hospital in Salem.
Fulton County Judge Kenneth Crow says he’s excited to have the new partnership with Baxter Health, and he believes the quality of healthcare provided to county residents will improve.

With the agreement, Baxter Health Vice President and Chief of Ancillary Servies Anthony Reed will serve as the Fulton County Hospital’s interim administrator. Reed says he and others have been working with local and state officials to get this agreement reached.

Fulton County Hospital has had its share of financial challenges over the years. Judge Crow says something had to be done to make sure the hospital kept its doors open in the long term, and this agreement will ensure that.

Baxter Health is scheduled to take over operations Aug. 15. Reed says some team members may go to Salem a little early to get familiar with the operations and make the transition smoother.
