White River Valley Electric Cooperative supports local communities with Plugged-In grants

White River Valley Electric Cooperative (WRVEC) has announced approval of $50,000 in grant monies for the “Plugged-In” Community Enhancement Program.

The “Plugged-In” program will provides grants and sweat equity to organizations seeking assistance for community-driven projects in Taney, Stone, Christian, Douglas, and Ozark counties. The program is designed to grow area economies, promote community revitalization, and strengthen overall livability in each county. Grants are given to organizations who offer strong missions, proposals, and track-records and monies are awarded for projects in each county the Cooperative serves. Volunteer participation is supplied by WRVEC employees, where applicable

One of the grants will benefit the Center located in Gainesville. The Center will get its roof rehabilitated, the safety fence will be removed, and a new fence will be installed.

Other grants will go to three recipients in Taney County. The Leonard Stevens Community Center at Rockaway Beach will have its bathrooms renovated. The Bradleyville Booster Club will get a new multi-purpose building for outdoor instruction, sports concessions and outdoor bathrooms. New light poles will be purchased and installed for Taneyville R-II School District’s multi-purpose field.

Three additional recipients of the grants are in the Ava area. The DOCO, Inc., Sheltered Workshop will get a new multi-purpose storage building for community outreach activities, the electrification of a public bathroom and installation of security equipment will be done at Buck Your Club, and playground equipment will be installed to enhance the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association’s campground.
