
The sales tax revenue for Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home continue to stay strong for August.
According Mountain Homes Director of Finance and Treasury Alma Clark, the city collected a total of $596,243 in city sales tax revenue for August which is an increase of 2.367% from this time last year. Year-to-date, the city has seen a total increase of $256,183 or 5.9%.
Figures released by Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize show Baxter County’s revenue portion equals $527,018. This time last year, Baxter County received $513,899.
Sales tax reports are released by the state Department of Finance and Administration two months after the taxes are collected by area businesses. The following numbers were received in August, which reflect area spending from the month of June.
Mountain Home received $285,094 in county sales tax. When compared to last year’s total of $277,997, it is an increase of 2.55%. The year-to-date total equals $94,511.
Other Baxter County cities receiving revenue from the county’s sales tax include:
– Gassville, which received $48,260;
– Cotter, which received $19,695;
– Lakeview, which received $17,227;
– Salesville, which received $10,514;
– Norfork, which received $10,335;
– Briarcliff, which received $5,246; and
– Big Flat, which received $1,956.
Baxter County received $231,337in revenue from its 0.25% sales tax for maintenance and operation of the Baxter County Detention Center.
Mountain Home received $223,591 from its 0.375% sales tax to support its police and fire departments. At this time last year, the city received $218,421, which is a monthly increase of 2.36%. The year-to-date increase is nearly $96,055 or 5.91%.
Mountain Home has collected nearly $298,121 for August from the park improvement sales tax, which is $77,731 more than needed for Bond Payment of $220,390 (the actual payment amount).
Park operation sales tax for August equals $149,060.
