AR Hwy. 177 over Norfork Dam to have single lane closure through Nov. 1

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has announced they will be closing one lane of Arkansas Highway 177 across the Norfork Dam beginning Friday morning at 6:30 until 5 in the evening on Nov. 1 for routine maintenance.

The single lane closure will be established in the northbound traffic lane. Traffic lights will be present to assist with the flow of traffic, but motorists should plan for additional travel time.

Interment full road closures are tentatively scheduled for the following dates:

Sept. 11 through Sept. 14; Sept. 25 through Sept. 27; Oct. 16 through Oct. 19; and Oct. 30 through Nov. 1.

Additional information will be released once the dates have been confirmed.

The closures are being coordinated with emergency services and law enforcement agencies. Please plan an alternate route through this area during the full road closures. Alternate routes include southbound on Hwy. 177 past the Norfork dam closure will require a detour using Arkansas Highway 5 through Norfork, then Baxter County Road 64 north back to Hwy. 177 at Jordan. Northbound travelers on Hwy. 177 will need to take the detour around the dam on Baxter County Road 64 south from Jordan to Hwy. 5 south of Norfork.
