A Boone County man has been arrested for theft after he rode off on a motorcycle without paying for it.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Aug. 12 the Boone County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen motorcycle. The victim, who was currently incarcerated, stated he spoke with the suspect, 44-year-old Larry Thompson, about selling the motorcycle for $2,500 and would arrange the purchase through a friend. The friend stated Thompson was allowed to ride off on the motorcycle to get the money, but never returned.

Four days later, deputies attempted to make contact with Thompson but was unsuccessful. He was later arrested on warrants by the Harrison SWAT Team.

During the interview, Thompson told deputies he was going to purchase the motorcycle for $2,000 and claimed to have paid the victim’s friend $600 in cash but did not have a receipt. He stated he was going to pay him, but just didn’t see him.

Thompson told deputies he still had the motorcycle in a storage shed at the residence of his girlfriend’s son. He stated he parked it there because he knew he was about to be arrested for his warrants. The motorcycle was recovered and transported to a storage facility at the Boone County Detention Center.

Thompson is facing a felony count of theft of property and a misdemeanor count of obstruction of government operations. He is currently being held in Boone County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.
