
International Overdose Awareness day, recognized on August 31, is a day to remember those who have died or suffered permanent injury due to drug overdose.
County Judges from Baxter and Marion County along with Mayors of Mountain Home and Yellville have issued proclamations encouraging citizens to take time to pause and remember those who have lost their lives to drug misuse and the families who have lost loved ones to this problem.
The Prevention Awareness Youth Support Coalition, known as the PAYS Coalition, is a group of citizens from Baxter and Marion counties committed to promoting substance awareness for a drug free community focusing on youth.
The PAYS Coalition is co-chaired by Carry Manuel and Eva Frame and is a product of the North Arkansas Partnership for Health Education (NAPHE).
Individuals from Baxter or Marion counties interested in participating should call Cheryl Green Cheryl Green at the Baxter County Juvenile Services office at 870-425-3840. Meetings are held monthly on the third Thursday at El Chico in Mountain Home, from 11:30 until 1:00. Meal not provided.
