Saturday volleyball results include MH junior high team splitting in Russellville tourney

The Mountain Home junior high volleyball team had mixed results on Saturday as they took part in the Whirlwind Invitational Tournament at Russellville. The Junior Lady Bombers began action in the Silver Bracket by defeating Morrilton in straight sets with scores of 25-20 and 25-16. Mountain Home did not fare as well in the semifinals as Lake Hamilton won in straight sets by scores of 25-14 and 25-20. The Junior Lady Bombers are now 3-5 on the season, and they’ll travel to Marion on Monday.

On the high school level, Mountain Home Christian Academy took part in the Set ‘Em in Salem Tournament and finished as the runners-up.
The Lady Eagles split their pool play matches. They lost their first match in straight sets as Midland posted scores of 25-18 and 25-11. Mountain Home Christian bounced back with a straight set win as they topped Melbourne 25-19 and 25-21.
The Lady Eagles needed all three sets in their bracket opener, but they were able to get past Salem 25-22, 15-25 and 15-7. Mountain Home Christian advanced to the semifinals and topped Yellville-Summit in three sets with scores of 27-25, 21-25 and 15-11. The Lady Eagles went on to the championship match and fell in straight sets as Highland posted scores of 28-26 and 15-25.
Caroline Robinson led Mountain Home Christian on the day with 26 kills and 10 aces, Kenna Riley had 16 kills and 13 blocks, Sydelle Sebree added eight kills, Kytalin Cotter recorded 10 digs and six aces, and Cheyenne Dewey finished with six blocks.
