
Three area high schools sent their cross country teams to compete in the Alton Invitational on Wednesday.
Dora freshman Isabelle Martin won the high school girls’ race in a time of 21:56.2, and teammate Emma Martin finished fourth. Kaitlyn Kahl of Gainesville was fifth. Callie Smith led Bakersfield as she ended up 13th.
On the high school boys’ side, Dora’s Cade Nold took second place as he finished 26 seconds behind Alton’s Rydan Deckard. Gainesville was led by Ryder Murphy with an eighth place finish, and Chad Carey was 16th for Bakersfield.
Gainesville’s Aiden Thome won the junior high boys’ race as he crossed the line in 10:54.3. Marcus Meskimen ended up 33rd for Bakersfield.
Jessica Suit of Gainesville took third place in the junior high girls’ race as she finished 20 seconds behind the winner, Mallory Houf of Van Buren. Suit’s teammate, Annabell Snelson, was fifth. Eden Cotter of Bakersfield ended up 31st, and Montgomery Mitchell of Dora took 51st place.
