The Monday morning accident in which a truck collided with a van at the Y in Midway resulted in the deaths of two Marion County residents and injuries to a Searcy County resident. Thirty-nine-year-old Jennifer Watlington of Yellville and 40-year-old Sunshine Underhill of Summit were pronounced dead, and 61-year-old Michael Ragland of Marshall was transported to Baxter Health.
According to the Arkansas State Police, a van driven by Watlington and occupied by Underhill was traveling was traveling on Arkansas Highway 5 and approaching the intersection with Arkansas Highway 126. A truck driven by Ragland came to the intersection from Highway 126. The truck reportedly failed to yield the right-of-way at the intersection and struck the van.
The road was dry, but there was heavy fog at the time of the 7:25 a.m. accident.
