
Mountain Home was the host for this year’s 5A-West Conference Golf Tournament at Big Creek Golf and Country Club on Tuesday. The Bombers and Lady Bombers both secured state tournament bids.
Mountain Home won the boys’ title with a team total of 324. The Bombers finished four strokes ahead of the runners-up from Harrison.
For Mountain Home, Ian Ellison was third with a 77, Cody Cormican ended up fourth with an 80, and Chace Berwald was part of a three-way tie for fifth place with Harrison’s Berkely Knapp and Isaac Freeman after each shot an 81. JD Frederiksen of Van Buren was the medalist with a one-under-par 71.
Mountain Home took third place on the girls’ side with a team total of 321. Harrison just missed a state berth as they finished fourth at 333. Russellville captured the title at 242.
Abby Edens led the Lady Bombers as she shot a 92 to end up fifth. Anna Torres was in a tie for 10th with Harrison’s top golfer, Brynne Bonds, after both shot a 105. Russellville’s Susanna Manns was the medalist with a 75.
Mountain Home head coach Dell Leonard says he has a lot of pride in the effort his teams put in on Tuesday.

The Lady Bombers will compete in the Class 5A State Tournament next Tuesday at RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro. The boys’ teams from Mountain Home and Harrison will be at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Alma on Oct. 2.
