Beginning Oct. 2, the Baxter County Health Unit of the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) will be offering flu vaccinations at no charge during normal operation hours. Those interested in receiving a flu shot are asked to bring their insurance card with them. For those without insurance or if their insurance does not cover the flu vaccine, it will still be available at no charge.
Officials state the annual flu vaccination is recommended for most adults and children six months and older. Baxter County Health Unity Administrator Stacey Ferretti, BSN, RN states “We want Baxter County residents to stay healthy this flu season, and getting a yearly flu vaccination is the best line of defense.”The ADH states the flu vaccine is safe and does not cause the flu. Some people may experience mild soreness and redness near the site of the shot and a low fever or slight headache.

The Baxter County Health Unit is open Monday through Friday from 8 until 4:30, except for Tuesday from 9:30 until 6.

For questions call the Health Unit at 870-425-3072.
