Flippin ended up as the runners-up of the Class 3A State Boys’ Golf Tournament on Monday. The Bobcats had a team total of 238 at Glenwood Country Club to finish nine strokes back of the state champs from Episcopal Collegiate.
Two other area teams competed in the tournament. Melbourne was fourth at 249, and Bergman took 11th place at 280.
Flippin had two golfers on the All-State team. Tucker Thompson finished fifth with a 77, and Cody Downs was 13th with an 80. Episcopal Collegiate’s Jackson McLaughlin was the medalist with a 67.
