Thursday volleyball results include MHHS winning on Breast Cancer Awareness Night

The Mountain Home High School volleyball team had a successful Breast Cancer Awareness Night on Thursday as they hosted Van Buren. The Lady Bombers needed all five sets, but they were able to get past the Lady Pointers with scores of 25-23, 25-21, 22-25, 20-25 and 16-14.
Carson Schmitz led Mountain Home with 38 kills, 19 digs, five assists and three aces; Anna McCarn had 16 kills and nine blocks; Micayla Magis added six kills and five assists; Ali Czanstkowski recorded 36 assists, 16 digs and three aces; Addison Martz finished with 23 digs; Lauren Rauls chipped in 17 digs; and Cara Jackson ended up with 10 digs and nine assists.
Mountain Home won the junior varsity match in straight sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-10. The J.V. Lady Bombers were led by Deanna Human with six kills and five blocks, Peeka Traver had 28 digs, Libby Dewey added eight digs, and Magis dished out 11 assists.

Mountain Home Christian Academy had one win as they played three matches at Mountain Grove Christian Academy. Mountain Home Christian lost the varsity match in straight sets with scores of 26-24 and 25-16. Mountain Home Christian’s lone win was in the junior varsity match as they topped Mountain Grove Christian 25-19 and 25-16. The evening started with Mountain Home Christian losing the junior high match 26-24 and 26-24.

In other high school volleyball, Cotter had a tough night on the road. The Lady Warriors fell to the Lady Bobcats in straight sets.

Yellville-Summit picked up a win in front of the home crowd. The Lady Panthers defeated Quitman in straight sets.

Valley Springs grabbed a conference victory in the Arkansas River Valley. The Lady Tigers beat Atkins in four sets.

Harrison went toward the Oklahoma state line and beat Greenwood in four sets. The Lady Goblins posted scores of 18-25, 25-19, 25-19 and 25-22.

Mountain Home had one win as they hosted Annie Camp from Jonesboro for three junior high matches.
The Junior Lady Bombers took the varsity match in straight sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-17. Aleigh Lucas led Mountain Home with nine kills and three blocks, Annyston Crooker recorded nine kills and two blocks, Brytlee Burroughs finished with four kills and an ace, Maddie Simmons ended up with 15 digs and an ace, Violet Daugherty dished out 11 assists, Ava Jones had six digs and five assists, Miley Epps recorded six digs, Bella Conyers finished with five digs and two aces, Lydia Miller ended up with three blocks, and Eliana Pepin chipped in two blocks. The Junior Lady Bombers improve to 8-7 on the season and 6-3 in the Northeast Arkansas Conference.
Mountain Home did not fare as well in the junior varsity match. In the lone set, the Junior J.V. Lady Bombers fell to Annie Camp 25-19.
The night started with Mountain Home losing the seventh grade match in straight sets as Annie Camp posted scores of 25-18 and 25-17. The Seventh Grade Lady Bombers fall to 7-10 on the year.
