
Yellville-Summit went on the road and suffered another conference loss on Friday. After being tied in the fourth quarter, Quitman scored 21 straight points to beat the Panthers 51-30. Yellville-Summit drops to 4-3 on the season and 0-3 in the 3A-2, and they’ll host Salem next week.
Salem was able to remain unbeaten on the season. The Greyhounds, currently ranked second in Class 3A by the Arkansas Sports Media, defeated Melbourne 38-27. Salem improves to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the 3A-2. The Bearkatz fall to 2-4 and 1-1, and they’ll entertain Perryville for Fall Royalty Night.
Harrison had a tough night in front of its home crowd. The Goblins ended up falling 55-25 to Shiloh Christian, the second-ranked team in Class 5A. Harrison is now 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the 5A-West.
On the eight-man level, Izard County was able to bounce back from last week’s rough outing with Rector. The Cougars went to Pleasant Plains and routed Midland 58-14. Izard County improves to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the 2A/1A-North, and they’ll host Augusta next week.
Marshall’s lead slipped away late on its home field. The Bobcats were edged out by Cedar Ridge 26-22. Marshall falls to 1-5 on the season and 0-2 in the 4A/3A-North, and they’ll host Mountain View next week.
Mountain View had a successful Senior Night as they hosted a battle between the top two teams in Classes 4A/3A. The top-ranked Yellowjackets shut out No. 2 Corning 28-0. Mountain View is now 6-0 on the year and 2-0 in the 4A/3A-North.
