Rural MH man allegedly steals father’s truck, found later unconscious in the vehicle

A rural Mountain Home man with a lengthy criminal history, has been arrested again, this time for stealing his father’s truck and then being found unconscious in the vehicle. Forty-two-year-old Zachariah Lee Zelk was taken into custody Friday afternoon.

According to the probable cause affidavit in the case, Zelk’s father reported his truck missing last Thursday. He said his son had been staying with him and had left a note saying he knew his dad would be mad, but he had “a thing” to do.

Friday afternoon, a Mountain Home Police officer found the truck in the parking lot of a business on East 9th street. Zelk was unconscious in the vehicle. Police suspect Zelk had passed out.

Zelk is facing a felony charge of theft of property. His bond is set at $15,000.

Zelk had been arrested multiple times in Baxter County dating back to 1999. Charges in his previous arrests include residential burglary, theft of property, breaking or entering, multiple counts of forgery, unauthorized use of a vehicle and multiple drug charges.
