Three area high school volleyball teams played their openers in the 2A-North District Tournament Monday at Quitman.
Cotter watched its season come to an end. The Lady Warriors were bounced in straight sets as Marshall posted scores of 25-15, 25-23 and 25-18.
Yellville-Summit was able to advance in the late match. The Lady Panthers beat Guy-Perkins in straight sets with scores of 25-10, 25-10 and 25-15.
Four other area teams competed in the opening night of the 3A-Northwest District Tournament at Dover.
Flippin ended up being one and done in the tournament. The Lady Bobcats lost in four sets as Rose Bud posted scores of 25-17, 17-25, 25-16 and 25-19.
Salem moved on to the next round with a four-set victory. The Lady Greyhounds topped Atkins 24-26, 25-16, 25-17 and 25-19.
Melbourne was able to advance with a win over Bergman. The Lady Bearkatz eliminated the Lady Panthers 22-25, 25-17, 26-24 and 25-13.
