On Saturday, the Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society will conclude their year long celebration of Baxter County’s Sesquicentennial. On March 24, 1873, Baxter County was formed from Fulton, Izard, Marion and Searcy counties. The county was named in honor of the Governor of Arkansas at that time, Elisha Baxter, and formed as the 68th county in Arkansas, just prior to the Brooks-Baxter War.
Jennifer Baker, Secretary for the Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society spoke with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News
