
The Yellville-Summit High School football team’s final road trip of the season ended on a rough note Friday. The Panthers went to Atkins and suffered a 48-40 defeat. Yellville-Summit falls to 4-5 on the season and 0-5 in the 3A-2, and they’ll host Newport next Friday to end their season.
Melbourne came up just short on the road. The Bearkatz were edged out by Newport 18-16 in their road finale. Melbourne drops to 2-6 on the year and 1-3 in the 3A-2, and they’ll host Quitman next week.
Harrison came from behind to get another road win. The Goblins got past Dardanelle 42-28. Harrison improves to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the 5A-West, and they’ll host Clarksville for Senior Night.
The regular season came to an end in Missouri. Among area schools, West Plains pounded Waynesville 49-21, Hollister fell to Lamar 49-7, Forsyth beat up on Springfield Central 65-35, and Branson lost to Webb City 20-0.
On the eight-man level, Marshall finished its season with a tough loss. The Bobcats fell to Rose Bud 40-38. Marshall’s final record is 1-7 overall and 0-4 in the 4A/3A-North.
For the second straight year, Mountain View ended the regular season unbeaten as they look to repeat as state champions. The Yellowjackets, currently the top-ranked team in Classes 4A/3A, went to Newark and manhandled Cedar Ridge 57-18. Mountain View is 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the 4A/3A-North. There has been no word on their first playoff game.
