Friday football schedule includes MHHS hosting Van Buren for Senior Night

Friday’s high school football schedule includes the final home game of the regular season for Mountain Home. It’s Senior Night for the Bombers as they welcome Van Buren to the Twin Lakes Area.
Both teams are part of a three-way tie for fifth place in the 6A-West with Lake Hamilton. Mountain Home is currently 4-4 on the season and 2-4 in the league. The Bombers are coming off a 37-point win at Siloam Springs. Van Buren is 3-5 and 2-4. The Pointers were routed by Little Rock Christian last week.
This senior class for Mountain Home were freshmen during Steve Ary’s first year as the Bombers’ head coach. Ary says this is a special group he is going to miss when the season ends.

Kickoff at Bomber Stadium is scheduled for 7. Friday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com and on the Bomber Sports Network on YouTube.

Elsewhere in the 6A-West, Greenbrier travels to Little Rock Christian, Russellville hosts Lake Hamilton, and Pulaski Academy entertains Greenwood in a battle between teams ranked in the Arkansas Sports Media Top 10. The Bulldogs are fifth, and the Bruins are 10th. Siloam Springs is idle this week.

The season will come to an end for Yellville-Summit on its home field. The Panthers will also have their Senior Night as they go up against Newport.
Yellville-Summit is currently 4-5 on the season and 0-5 in the 3A-2. The Panthers suffered an eight-point loss at Atkins last week. Newport is 4-4 and 3-1. The Greyhounds squeaked by with a two-point win over Newport last Friday.
Kickoff at Panther Field is set for 7.

Also in the 3A-2, Salem, currently ranked second in Class 3A by the Arkansas Sports Media, makes the trip to Perryville, and Melbourne is home against Quitman. Atkins is idle this week.

Elsewhere on the local Arkansas schedule, Harrison hosts Clarksville for Senior Night.

The postseason gets underway Friday in Missouri with the start of district play.

West Plains will have home field advantage for its first game in the Class 4, District 6 Playoffs. The Zizzers will entertain Monett.

Hollister will be on the road to begin the Class 3, District 6 Playoffs. The Tigers will head to Mount Vernon.

Forsyth will be starting the Class 2, District 4 Playoffs on its own turf. The Panthers will be at home against Willow Springs.

Branson will have home field advantage for its opener in the Class 5, District 6 Playoffs. The Pirates will host Springfield Glendale.

Mountain View will begin postseason play as they have home field advantage in the Arkansas Eight-Man Club Division State Playoffs. The Yellowjackets, looking for their second straight state title, will entertain Cutter-Morning Star.

In other eight-man football, Izard County is home against Brinkley for its regular season finale.
