Lead Hill man dies in structure fire Wednesday afternoon

A Lead Hill man has died after he was unable to escape a structure fire in Lead Hill Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 2 Wednesday afternoon, the Lead Hill and Diamond City fire departments were dispatched to a structure fire on Arkansas Highway 14, just west of Lead Hill. The caller stated their was still inside and they could not get in to help him get out.

Boone County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene to discover 83 year old, Emmett “Jerry” Taylor had succumbed to the smoke and flames. Investigators examined the cause of the fire and determined the fire appeared to be accidental due to apparent faulty wiring which was found.

The exact cause of death is still to be determined. However, officials state no foul play is suspected at this time.
