An Ozark County man has been arrested for threatening a woman in nearly 100 texts and phone calls. All of the communication happened over a span of a few hours, leading authorities to arrest 27-year-old Charles Berger of Gainesville.

According to the probable cause affidavit in the case, the victim showed deputies the communication where Berger threatened her and her boyfriend, including wanting to fight her boyfriend and a picture of her house, followed by a message for the boyfriend to come out and fight.

A deputy called Berger’s phone with the deputy reporting Berger was yelling at him from the time he answered. He said he is upset with the boyfriend and called the situation “white trash drama.” Berger told the deputy law enforcement didn’t need to get involved because he would “beat his head off when he sees him” and he would “take care of him.”

The deputy was able to find Berger in a subsequent search. Berger had to be tased when he wouldn’t follow commands and continued to struggle even after the taser was deployed before he was taken into custody.

Berger is facing felony charges of harassment in the first degree and resisting arrest along with a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace.
