
Mountain Home High School took part in the Arkansas State Cross Country Meet Thursday and left Hot Springs with more hardware. The Bomber boys successfully defended their Class 5A state championship from a year ago and won their sixth team title. It was the 11th state title overall for Mountain Home’s cross country teams. The Lady Bombers finished fifth on the girls’ side.
Mountain Home’s boys were 33 points ahead of the runners-up from Russellville. Harrison ended up 15th.
William Hill was the Bombers’ top runner as he took third place in a time of 16:07.96. Also for Mountain Home, Hendrix Hughes finished fifth, Garrett Barr was sixth, and Connor King ended up ninth. Harrison was led by Conner Valentine as he took 18th place. The individual title went to Joseph Bariola of Hot Springs Lakeside.
In the girls’ division, the Lady Bombers finished behind Greenwood, Russellville, Lake Hamilton and Valley View.
Lucy Koehn led Mountain Home as she crossed the line in 12th place in a time of 20:58.67. Brennan Steinman was Harrison’s top performer in 56th place. Aubrey Minton of Valley View was the individual champion.
