Friday football results include Melbourne getting past Atkins

The Melbourne High School football team was able to escape with a win in its regular season finale. The Bearkatz edged out 18-17. Melbourne improves to 3-7 on the year and 2-4 in the 3A-2.

Harrison went on the road and beat Pea Ridge 42-20. The Goblins are 7-3 overall and 5-2 in the 5A-West to finish tied for third in the league, and they won the tiebreaker for the conference’s No. 3 seed over Alma.

As district play continued in Missouri, West Plains watched its season come to an end in the semifinals of the Class 4, District 6 Playoffs. The Zizzers fell at home to McDonald County 35-33.

Forsyth’s season came to an end as they hosted their semifinal game in the Class 2, District 4 Playoffs. The Panthers lost to Strafford 28-26.

Branson was eliminated from the semifinals of the Class 5, District 6 Playoffs. The Pirates suffered a 42-35 defeat at top-seeded Lebanon.

Ava entered the Class 3, District 5 Playoffs as the No. 1 seed, and they won their opener in the semifinals. The Bears doubled up Eldon 72-36. Ava will host Mountain Grove for the district title next week.
