
Basketball makes up the local Monday schedule and includes the start of the season for the Mountain Home High School girls. The Lady Bombers will begin the campaign in Valley Springs as they meet Mayflower to open the Jake Gray Invitational.
Mountain Home is coming off a season in which they finished 16-15. The Lady Bombers returned to the Class 5A State Tournament last season after a two-year absence, but they lost to West Memphis in the opening round.
Mountain Home’s girls have been putting in a lot of work to prepare for the season. During Saturday’s Mountain Home High School Basketball Preview Show, Lady Bombers’ head coach Dell Leonard said he has a team full of gym rats.

Tip-off is scheduled for 4. Monday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com and the Bomber Sports Network on YouTube.
Mountain View’s girls will also compete in the tournament as their opening opponent is Farmington at 6:30, and their boys face Huntsville at 7:45.
Elsewhere on the high school level, Flippin’s boys travel to Paragould for a benefit game with Greene County Tech.
The season also gets underway for Mountain Home’s three junior high basketball teams as they go to Batesville. The freshman program will enter the year as the two-time defending Northeast Arkansas District Tournament champions. The seventh grade game tips off at 5 followed by the eighth grade and freshman contests.
Several area junior high teams will begin the Rabadi Annual Classic hosted by Marshall. The opening round games will be split up between the campuses at Marshall and Leslie.
At Marshall, Mountain View takes on Berryville for a doubleheader starting with the girls at 4:30, and Yellville-Summit plays back-to-back games with Clinton at 6:30.
In the girls’ games at Leslie, Marshall and Shirley get started at 4:30, and Calico Rock meets Jasper at 6:30. On the boys’ side, Calico Rock faces Marshall at 5:30, and Jasper takes on Shirley at 6:30.
In other junior high basketball, Viola hosts Izard County, and Salem makes the trip to Mammoth Spring.
