
Mountain Home opened its junior high boys’ basketball season Tuesday by winning two of three games at home against Harrison.
The freshman game ended with the Junior Bombers defeating the Junior Goblins 41-29. Gus Wilber and Cody Cormican led Mountain Home with 12 points each. The Junior Bombers start the year at 1-0.
Mountain Home’s eighth graders needed overtime, but they were able to get past Harrison 44-39. The Eighth Grade Bombers were led by Max Bryant with 10 points. Mountain Home is 1-0 on the year.
Mountain Home’s only loss was in the seventh grade contest as they fell to Harrison 39-30. The Seventh Grade Bombers begin the campaign at 0-1.
All three Mountain Home teams will continue their home stand Friday against Nettleton.
Mountain Home had one win in three junior high girls’ games at Harrison.
The Junior Lady Bombers lost the freshman game to the Junior Lady Goblins 45-27. Addison McCarn was Mountain Home’s top scorer with 14 points.
Mountain Home’s lone win was in the eighth grade contest. The Eighth Grade Lady Bombers topped Harrison by a final of 28-11.
The evening began with Mountain Home’s seventh graders falling to Harrison 29-10.
On the high school level, Norfork’s girls had short but successful road trip. The Lady Panthers beat Calico Rock 49-32.
Yellville-Summit had mixed results as they hosted Lead Hill. The Lady Tigers picked up a 72-37 win over Lead Hill. Yellville-Summit did not fare as well in the boys’ game as they lost to Lead Hill 55-42.
Viola swept its high school games over Ozark Mountain. The Longhorns edged out the Bears 47-44 in the boys’ game. Viola also took the girls’ contest over Ozark Mountain 54-40.
Salem’s girls began their defense of last year’s Class 3A state championship on a winning note. The Lady Greyhounds defeated Highland 54-42.
The Marshall boys were able to invoke the mercy rule against Guy-Perkins. The Bobcats routed the Thunderbirds 89-54.
Timbo’s boys had a rough trip to Greers Ferry. The Tigers suffered a 60-38 defeat at the hands of West Side.
The Bergman High School teams picked up a sweep over Alpena. The Panthers beat up on the Leopards 85-41 in the boys’ game. Bergman also pounded Alpena 60-28 in the girls’ contest.
Valley Springs had a rough outing as they hosted the second day of the Jake Gray Invitational. The Lady Tigers lost to Clinton 64-57. Valley Springs’ boys also fell to Huntsville 58-50.
Jasper was able to sweep its high school games at Mount Judea. The Pirates won the boys’ game over the Eagles 95-37. Jasper’s girls also beat Mount Judea 87-24.
